AmateurGastronomer.com is an online wine, food and entertainment magazine that features gastronomic adventures from around the world. It was launched September 2008 in Miami and expanded to Atlanta in May 2010.

The Amateur Gastronomer is read by people in nearly all 50 states and in more than 70 countries around the world.

The wines reviewed by The Amateur Gastronomer are received as samples, tasted at trade events, or purchased from stores. No preferential treatment is given to non-purchased wines.

Robin Alix Austin, CSW

Robin Alix Austin is a freelance writer originally from New York and currently based in Atlanta. Prior to founding The Amateur Gastronomer Robin was a television news producer at CBS in Miami and NBC in West Palm Beach. Her accomplishments in news include producing the first HD newscast in South Florida and completing a producing seminar at the Poynter Institute. In September 2008 Robin left television news to pursue her passion for wine, food and travel — and to write about her experiences.

Robin graduated cum laude from Rice University with a degree in History. She is a Certified Specialist of Wine and received a sommelier certification from the United States Sommelier Association. Robin is a member of the Society of Wine Educators. In January 2012 she was a judge at the American Fine Wine Competition.
