The south meets the sea at The Pig & The Pearl, a smokehouse and raw bar now open at Atlantic Station.

Sure, it’s a seemingly odd pairing. But as The Amateur Gastronomer found out, it’s one that lets you enjoy exactly what you’re craving, without having to compromise on quality.

Pig and PearlThe Pig & The Pearl comes from the team at The Shed at Glenwood. Owners Todd Martin and Cindy Shera sought to create a gathering place in Midtown, with an artfully prepared and fun menu from Chef Todd Richards.

The interior is a mix of weathered wood and whitewashed brick that offers a soothing respite from busy Atlantic Station.

Chick-a-Biddy Celebrates One Year

Chick-a-BiddyChick-a-Biddy, the fast casual restaurant from Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere at Atlantic Station, will be celebrating its one year anniversary with a week of farm-fresh festivities.

From Monday, July 28 through Sunday, August 3, Chick-a-Biddy will offer food and drink specials including:

Monday, July 28:  Free pimento cheese appetizer (one per table)
Tuesday, July 29:  $5 coupon with the purchase of any entrée
Wednesday, July 30:  Famous wings are half price all day
Thursday, July 31:  Complimentary regular or gluten-free cookie
Friday, August 1:  $5 Atlantic Summers cocktails
Saturday, August 2:  Chick-a-Piggy takeover with whole hog chopped barbecue sandwiches for $5 and SweetWater 420 for $2 from noon to close (while supplies last)
Sunday, August 3:  Sunday Brunch from 11am to 3pm and birthday cake for all

Additionally, there will be a DJ spinning tunes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Chick-a-Biddy opened in 2013 with a mission to serve the best farm-fresh and healthy, yet fun and affordable quick-serve option around.

Atlanta Bar-B-Q Festival Returns to Atlantic Station in August

Bring your appetite to Atlantic Station on Friday, August 15th and Saturday, August 16th for the 6th annual Atlanta Bar-B-Q Festival.

Atlanta BBQ Fest trophiesThe event is the city’s largest two-day barbecue cooking competition. More than 50 teams from Atlanta and the Southeast will compete in a cook-off to win cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights in categories including whole Atlanta BBQ Festivalhog, ribs, chicken, brisket, pulled pork and sauce.

Guests will enjoy barbecue from Atlanta’s top restaurants and sample-size portions of championship ‘cue from participating teams (food cost not included in admission ticket). The festival offers fun for the whole family with a cooking stage, live music, a Kids-Town with interactive games and activities, plus a general market with sauces, rubs and items for backyard barbequing.

Admission is $6 in advance and $10 at the gate. Kids 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are on sale now at atlbbqfest.com or can be purchased via phone at 678.701.6114.

Beer Carnival Returns to Atlanta

Step right up to the 5th annual Beer Carnival, bringing food, games, music, and more than 100 beers from around the world to Atlanta.

Beer CarnivalFormerly known as the Winter Beer Carnival, the event is returning to Atlantic Station on a new early spring date – Saturday, April 5th.

This year’s carnival is bigger and better than ever, with more beers, activities, DJs and beyond. From 1pm to 5pm guests will have the chance to sample premium craft beers, seasonal brews and traditional favorites.

Tickets for the Beer Carnival go on sale on Monday, January 20th at 10am online at www.ticketalternative.com, and can be purchased by phone at (877) 725-8849.

General admission tickets are $40 in advance and $50 day of event. Tickets include all the beer you can safely consume, a commemorative Beer Carnival sampling glass (available on a first-come, first-served basis), plus unlimited carnival games and activities (some may require a nominal fee).

Beer CarnivalVIP tickets are $65 and include noon entry and access to the VIP area and its exclusive selection of craft brews, food and private restrooms.

The event is rain or shine, and guests must be 21 years of age or older. Parking is available at the Atlantic Station parking deck. Attendees are encouraged to take MARTA to the Arts Center Station and then take the shuttle to Atlantic Station.
